Fritz The Cat (1972)
Ralph Bakshi Beginning with Fritz the Cat, Ralph Bakshi took animated films out of the Disney dark ages and into the streets. Bakshi managed to create a sordid street level story about a cat living, working, tripping, and screwing in the Big Apple in the 1960s. It was a cartoon for adults, before Heavy Metal. Sadly the originator of the characters, Robert Crumb, felt thoroughly disappointed by the film. Constantly hustling to find money to make his films, Bakshi has still managed to try his hand at Lord of the Rings, and the decade spanning six degrees of musical separation movie, American Pop. He’s still working. Cool World?

Oh I remember him (Fritz) making it across America eventually running into a California Biker Gang. Funny shit.

Gölök, Ralph Bakshi is a genius who has been screwed over by the Hollywood system repeatedly. If you had actually attempted to make a film yourself, you’d really see how hard it is, instead of sitting behind your computer flaming people who are more talented than you like a fucking idiot with no clue as to what REAL TALENT is.
